what we stand for

Our mission is to educate architects, designers, general contractors, home owners, and anyone else who has interest in sustainable and regenerative design. This site provides information on the importance of protecting the environment and offers resources and support for individuals and businesses to adopt eco-friendly practices. We offer information on topics such as deconstruction vs demolition, renewable energy, water efficiency, reducing waste when remodeling, as well as host of other resources that are working towards sustainable and regenerative goals. By implementing these initiatives, we hope to make a positive impact on the environment and inspire a new way of renovation and design.

What Makes Something Sustainable?

  • Renewability: refers to the ability of a resource to be replenished or regenerated over time. This typically applies to natural resources such as water, timber, and solar energy, which can be replenished through natural processes, as opposed to non-renewable resources such as fossil fuels, which are depleted through use.

  • Biodegradability: indicates a material that can break down naturally in the environment, reducing the need for disposal and the risk of pollution.

  • Low toxicity: sustainable materials that do not contain harmful chemicals or toxins that could negatively impact the health of workers during production or the health of users and the environment.

  • Energy efficiency: refers to a product that requires less energy to produce, process, and transport than other materials.

  • Recyclability: is one that can be recycled or repurposed after use, reducing the need for new raw materials and minimizing waste.

Water
water conservation

  • Install low-flow fixtures:

    • Showerheads

    • Faucets

    • Toilets

  • Choose water-efficient appliances with high Energy Star ratings

  • Collect and store rainwater for non-potable use

  • Reuse graywater for irrigation

  • Opt for drought-tolerant landscaping

  • Install water-efficient irrigation systems

  • Regularly check for leaks

  • Use dual-flush toilets

  • Install water meters

Renewable Energy

It is essential to incorporate renewable energy in residential and commercial settings to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and minimize their harmful environmental impact. Renewable sources such as solar and wind power offer more stable and cost-effective energy solutions, free from the volatility of fossil fuel markets. This also helps to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, ultimately promoting a healthy environment and combating climate change. By adopting renewable energy, we can ensure energy security and build a sustainable future for generations to come, preserving ecological balance and promoting long-term wellbeing.
